Imran Khan has decided to go on a hunger strike in the prison he is being held at in protest to Musharraf's emergency rule. I can see why someone like Imran Khan would do this (for the publicity) but is it really a good idea? Maybe if he was in another country but not in Pakistan.
On Monday, he decided to stop eating or drinking until judges that were fired when Musharraf imposed the emergency are reinstated, said his former wife, Jemima Khan. (source: Associated Press)

I know!!!! He's gonna die, nobody cares about him!!! He's the only decent politician out there, who's not about getting a name for himself
:(
On the contrary, I think Imran is very concerned with getting a name for himself actually. He is very concerned with his media image. Ask Jemima Khan who is doing all his media work for him in London, releasing information to the press agencies almost every day. None of us can prove this story is true but it keeps Imran's plight in the news.
Imran Khan and his party are the only party who want to change Pakistan's constitution...which is the only way Pakistan will be able to better itself and reduce the chance of any one of Pakitan's government branches to dominate power (like the executive has done now) and that is the core of any democracy.
Any other party would go through battles and bombs just to become the government party, and once they get there all they do is promise reforms that never seem to appear.
Imran Khan's problem is that he will never be recognised as a credible politician amongst the masses of Pakistan; he is simply one of the greatest cricketers ever. Nobody takes him seriously and the average Pakistani will allign himself with one of the other mainstream party who have religious factions within the party. Khan's party and supporters are all educated men (you can not deny that the majority of Pakistan's population are uneducated) and the party itself is pragmatic, not based upon religion.
If he ever does come into power, I bet you, changing the constitution will be the firt thing that he'll attempt to do. Whether he'll be successful in doing it or not is another matter.
I honestly believe that he has genuinely got Pakistan's interest at heart. He's loaded, already 'got a name' for himself, why on earth would he go through this torture?
Imran had lunch, diiner and then breakfast with eggs bread etc. What a liar, what a hunger strike.

I agree with Boba. Something about Imran Khan rings true. How come more people don't see it? :(
I hope his strategy works.. I don't want him to die!
Tos.. I tagged you.
Cheers for discussing this guys. As you say, the fact that people are taking notice, regardless of the reasons both in cause and effect, hopefully, in some way, some good will come of it. You probably have heard now that he has been released. I just posted a few thoughts about this along with links to the news piece and mentioned a couple of your quotes. Cheers!
