Bing bling ding bling bing bin din, just a few words that were going through my mind. What better way to start a blog entry?
Back in March me and Abz went to see Baba Ali of Ummah Films at Imperial College London. It was an amazing event and I enjoyed the good mix of people that turned up. During the show we got to see two brand new videos which at the time were unreleased to the public.
Of the two we saw that day I found this one, the parent negotiations video, to be more entertaining (maybe because the issue is more closer to heart?). The video is just one of four of Ummah Films Muslim Marriage Series, two of which are yet to be released.
In this video Baba Ali raises quite a few thought provoking questions for the youngsters and parents alike. I'm not going to go through all of them but here are a few.
>> parents saying: It's OK, have fun when you're young, get married when you get older.
Only if my parents said that to me! Life would surely be a lot different. When I was 14 my dad said to me, after finding out I was chatting to some indian bird, in a stern voice "kuriya naal friends ni banayna" (translation: you shouldn't make friends with girls). Mum was more strict on the girl front, she was like ... don't you even dare look at a girl. And I haven't since, honest.
Thinking back if I was a good boy and acted upon everything my parents said I would have probably been teetering on the brink of homosexuality right now. Why do I get the feeling someone's going to tell me it's not so bad?
>> Solitary confinement - used to punish society's worst criminals.
I think it's safe to say every muslim guy and girl with a marital status of single will know this description is pretty much accurate. There's not a lot of fun you can have when you're single, right? The way I see it, marriage is the first piece of the jigsaw in this thing we call life. Let's get on with it and make things happen otherwise haraam stuff will began to take place, and we don't want that.
Ah blah blah ... I'm writing too much, I get the impression I could write a mile today (oh wait I just did, ha) so I'm going to stop there and leave it to you guys to watch the video.
lol ok im taking ur advice and not wasting no time in getting married.
ha ha...I actually was hoping you'd write more. I think it's good you are for marriage..most guys aren't.
