esp for cafe - goodwin vs varley

From my other post I gathered Cafe loves finance as much as I do, I don't usually blog finance so this one's for her.

We all know the RBS consortium (Santander and Fortis) will be launching their new offer for a takeover/merger of ABN Amro tomorrow, their previous offer of £49 billion got rejected by the board so one can only wait to see what they come up with next. ABN seems more keen on the Barclays deal even though they're offering £4 billion less, then again Barclays aren't wanting to split ABN and they are by themselves.

There's also the other element of Sir Fred Goodwin versus John Varley, I think Varley has the edge though Goodwin is known for his comebacks. It's the biggest takeover battle since god knows when, and it's going to changing a lot of things in the worldwide banking sector - exciting stuff!
