Yesterday I had the dutiful task of dropping my parents off to Leeds train station so they can make their way to Gatwick Airport on route to Australia. I'm very surprised with my parents deciding to use the train to plan their journey (first time ever), usually they always ask one of my cousins for a favour or get us to do so.
We are still at the stage where when someone is going away, the house is full with a few families giving you well wishes. We serve them food and chai as if it were Eid and it's a happy occasion, smiley faces all round. When it comes to saying goodbye they do so as if it were their last. Aw isn't that nice?
To be honest with you guys, I think we are one of a few families where this takes place. I have asked a few friends and with them their house isn't full to the brim on the day someone is about to go away. Instead, they say their goodbye's a week or two prior and then take it easy when they're due to go. This is how I'd go about it too, but I guess my parents are old skool.
I've always thought when I need to jet off somewhere I'd take the train, two reasons mainly. One, it's cheaper and two, no need to bother anyone else. So you can imagine my surprise when my parents, who were born in the old ages and think of air-travel as a rarity, decide to not travel in the luxery of a car. A few more little changes towards the 21st century like this and we'll be set to go.
taking the train is SO much simpler! :) Hope the rents have a fab time in aus, and that you kids don't go too crazy in their absence ;)
I'm being nosey, but why are they going to Australia?
and I hate the train, I get wierd looks..I wonder why??
and yep, I know your on holiday at the mo but no need to slack in your parents absence. Nearly the end of the academic year; get you head down and try not to doss. (hmm, I sound like your mum)
World may progress ho raha hai lol. I agree that goodbyes should be said earlier but think its sweet they all come. Shows that there's LOADS of Love!
Trains, Planes & automobiles huh? Travelling's always a complete crack so I hope they come back with tales of swashbuclking and derring-do :D
Why aren't you going? Australia's gotta be such a cool place, like the UK just hot. And dry. And Aussies have such a wicked sense of humour too...
