My rents got back from hajj yesterday at around 6:30pm and we already had family around waiting for them. Within half and hour of them arriving everyone else was here too (neighbours, etc) and our house was full to the brim! Nobody wanted to go to the next door house eventhough they would have got some seating, instead they preferred to sit on the floor and cram-in.
Aapa, me, boba, and feesa had to sort everything out such as the food which is a big task itself especially with the number of guests we had! It was absoluetly hectic, I remember opening the door and not being able to close it for the a good 15 minutes. Oh yeah, do you know how many scrawling kids we had bobbing around? Unbelievable, you were lucky if you managed to take a stride.
I only hope that the rents had taken a house each, it would have made things a hell of a lot easier and calmer. Once for half an hour everything was rush rush and I did not know what was happening at all. The rents were absolutely shattered yet they were still entertaining the guests and telling them the stories, I don't think it should be like this. Wouldn't it be so much better if you visited someone two or three days later allowing them to re-energise rather than on the minute they get home? Anyway I think my sisters handled the situation very well.
My dad has became very weak mainly because he doesn't like (or can't, so he says) eat any other food than the usual. He does the same thing at home, e.g. he won't eat tuna, pasta and all other types of non-desi food. He says he was walking from Asr time to Fajr and I think it was a bit too rigorous for him, although it seems like mum managed fine.
One thing I found surprising which mum was telling everyone is that the Saudis don't like the Brits and that if you tell them you're from "Britannia" (as she calls it) they tell you to "yalla! yalla!" meaning go away, and if you ask them if they speak English the only word they say is "No!". To get around the situation she began telling everyone that she's from Pakistan and only spoke punjabi or urdu, this is the only situation I have known where the Pakistani nationality has over powered the British one.
I ask all my muslim readers to stay fit and sexy at all times because we have to remember that hajj is compulsory on all us, and if we're physically (or even mentally) unfit completing hajj will seem near impossible.
the turks love us for being pakistani!!!
"fit and sexy" didn't you mean "fit and healthy?" hahaha! When they show hajj on tv you always see really old people - some being pushed in wheelchairs...they make it look so easy! Also I think a long journey home can tire you out too, you know - waiting in airports, cramped on a plane etc.
ha ha at the last paragraph..you are a nut!
it was kinda ironic when the first meal that dad asked for was chips and beans!!
dude..wot r u on..'fit and sexy'?? jokerr!!
dang it...my hopes are doomed now.
i was gona comment about the 'fit and sexy' but boba's comment made me laugh more!
so what were you doing while your sisters were dealing with all the relatives ???
