Today’s been a hectic day for me. Woke up for sehri at 4:30 am, went to sleep at 5 and then woke up again at 7:30 to go to the doctors. There’s nothing wrong with me, it’s just that we’ve (me, Aapa and Feesa) have got a personal injury claim going through after the car we lost back in May.
Anyway, I’d been sent a letter telling me about the appointment with the doctor i.e. place and time and unfortunately for me I’d misplaced it. Aapa’s and Feesa’s letters I found so I made a note of the address, chucked the details into the tom-tom (sat nav) and off I went. This was around 8:30 am.
I arrive at the doctor’s place, which is called The Grange, in Huddersfield at 9:15 am, and walk up to the receptionist.
“I’m here for the 9:30 appointment, can you check me in please”
“Yes sure, can I have your name?”
I give her all my details including date of birth and post code.
“I can’t seem to find you on the system, are you sure it’s today and at 9:30?” – Bugger. Why does this shit always have to happen to me? I even reconfirmed my appointment details a week before it was due. She starts checking the system for today’s appointments, this weeks and then for the next fortnight.
“Sorry, we haven’t got you anywhere – have you got your appointment letter so I can check up further?” I explain the situation to her and then she says “Oh so you’re a new patient, let me check the other database”. I’m thinking yeh she should be able to find me now.
To my dismay, nothing turns up. Only thing to do now is call the insurance guys to find out what is going on.
So I call the insurance people and she tells me she did confirm everything and that they should have me booked in. By now its 9:30 and I’m getting a bit pee’d off. She says she’ll call me back in 2 minutes to ask them what’s happening here. About 10 minutes later she calls me back and say’s
“Yes Toseef, they have got you booked in. The receptionist says she’s waiting for you outside the door”
“Well I’m standing outside at The Grange and I don’t see no lady”
“The Grange?”
“Yeh y’know, The Doctors Practice at The Grange in Huddersfield”
(bawling hysterically) “What you doing there, you’re supposed to be at Mobile Doctors in Wakefield like it said in your letter!” (and continues laughing)
Effin great, all the way to Huddersfield at 9 in the morning for no bloody reason.
I let her know the situation and ask her why she’s got the two sisters booked in at this place and me in Wakefield. She avoids the questions and says “I think it’s best if you get down there asap”. I call her back a few minutes later telling her I don’t want to go down there if they’re going to turn me away as I’ve missed the appointment. “Make your way, I’ll speak to them now to quickly fit you in and if something comes up I’ll give you a call to let you know” and on that I toddle off to Wakey.
After booting it down the motorway (well as much as I can in my 1 litre) I arrive at the Mobile Doctors Practice at 10:30. When I get there the receptionist is in a giddy mood after I tell her who I am (probably made her day) and says she’ll try her best to fit me in after speaking to the doctor. I take a seat at reception and 10 minutes later she comes down to say the doc is choc-a-block today and that I’d have to re-arrange. Oh my, now you’re making this a day to remember (in a not so pleasant way).
So a little bit of re-cap here, I wake up really early (more difficult when it’s after sehri) go to Huddersfield which is 9 miles, from there I go to Wakefield (16 miles) and then arrive back home (another 9 miles) at 11:30 am. That’s 34 miles driving and 3 hours, all in the pursuit of nothing. Zilch. Nada.
And then Aapa and Mum had a good joke or two when I got home aswell. That’s all I need.
That’s all for the morning part of the day. The afternoon and evening were eventful too; oh me soo tired right now so I’m gonna have to leave it here and continue the post tomorrow.
oye.....making a claim when you're not hurt??!
heh, well i was at the time worst tho was aapa cos she was driving
I think it's fine to ask them to pay medical bills and time off of work. Plus you need to make absoulty sure NOTHING is wrong with you or your neck b/c that can go undetected and give you serious problems later in life. So, if that is what they are checking out for you..that you are ok or not, I think it's a good thing. Besides, that is what insurance is for. Let them pay to check you out good. ha ha
Should have called me, i dont mind driving at all. I think i should quit everything and become a taxi driver lol but your ryt that it could only happen to you.
