Family Friend Is A Family Benefit Fraudster

OMG I couldn’t believe this when Bob told me a guy our family knows pretty well was on BBC Calendar News for being convicted of fraudulently obtaining £52,000 from the benefits office.
I’m baffled as to why someone would do this; greed is all that comes to mind. My Dad knows the guy well (or knew, should I say) and has visited our house on quite a few occasions. He lives only two minutes from our place, and no-one would have thought he was a fraudster.
What annoys me further is this guy was always wearing traditional Islamic clothing (shalwaar kameez), a beard, and a topi (hat) and has always done so as far as I can remember. So on one hand he is coming across all Islamic and religious then on the other he is committing fraud (which is against any religion). What in the world?
To top it all off this guy used to take me (along with the rest of the kids) to high school in his van from 1997 to 2002 aswell as doing taxi and “owning” another house. What a guy.

I can’t believe the shit that is happening in Dewsbury these days; house raids being common (using terrorism as an excuse), Iraqis and Pakistanis having fights which led to two Pakistanis being stabbed, and police cars and bobby’s everywhere. It never used to be like this!

I agree everywhere is getting worse, but so what if this guy was coming across all religous? everyone makes mistakes, we have been made like this by our creator. Surely this guy has more good deeds than an exact person like him who doesnt come across religous and doesnt go mosque?

Rio you make a good point; our family knew this guy personally so you can appreciate if we come across shocked.
Obviously one of the first things thats going to come to our minds (and I assume the community will be thinking this too) is that he was such a religious man - and not "at least he used to go to mosque and pray".
Basically we wouldn't have thought as much of it if it was a non-muslim.
I know what you mean piniyini,but this is the world we live in where no is perfect and im sure there's hundreds of others doing the same. This guy was unlucky that he got caught. Its gonna be hard for him to survive in prison, as you'll know what happens to muslims and people with beards. Inshallah he will be ok though.
