Pakistani Blogs

Searching the blogospehere I am pleased to say I have come across some witty down-to-earth Pakistani blogs. The reason they are of interest to myself is because I am one myself, please no "Oi Paki!" remarks, and I hope you think they are good aswell.
They all give some kind of idea of what it's like being a Paki, whether in the UK, USA, or in Pakistan. The great feeling about them is they give an insight into their everyday lives. I was most surprised to find out that we have female bloggers too, this coming from a country which is always criticised for having unequal rights. Isn't it great how blogging can reach out and tell us the thoughts and opinions of all the girlies out there?
Moving swiftly on here are a few Pakistani blogs that have got my attention at the moment
- A*shole Roommate
This guy is complete nuts. He's previously from Pakistan and is currently studying in grad school, he tells us of all his wacky adventures in the US, with a hint of desiness to keep it live and humorous. Calls himself Jon, doubt that is his real name but hey whatever works for him. I like the way he says 20-something Paki under his profile. Best bits of his blog have to include his Apu accent, and lying to his parents to put their mind "at ease" (so true, so true). Also his inappropriate pictures are just so not appropriate yet so appropriate they keep the blog rocking (does that make sense?). Anyway this guy is way coool, you would have to stick ya' head in the fridge to be near his level!
- Nervous Nomad's Nightly Narrative
"Personal journal about pakoras, samosas and other things" - Yup she definitely desi, and more so, Paki! Her real name is Samarkand (isn't that so much better than Jon?) and lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have to say her writing style is so [insert F word here] wicked, in terms of writing style her blog has to be one of the best I have ever read. This darling has vowed to expand her "dwindling group of friends" so she can hang out and enjoy life. I want to inhale some strawberry flavored molasses tobacco using a sheesha (desi word: hookaa, no not hooker!) too; I guess I will just have to search for that. I'm glad she enjoys Mohammad Rafi's 'Kabi Kabi' song because I do aswell, and who the hell is Beau? Also, she hates paying for air because they don't charge for it in Pakistan, which is understandable.
- Misha
A female Karachi blogger who is also part of the Metroblogging Karachi network; well done girl. She is an excellent writer and she can write pages and pages, I am slightly miffed that she refused to consider my proposal because of the name piniyini, but I am sure I will get over this in due time. She said in her blog that she has been to London which is great, wonder why she didn't stay longer.
Well, I can't be bothered writing any more so I am going to end the post here. If you know any other interesting Paki blogs do drop us a dime (did I say that right? Got to stop using these American lingos)

Samarkand's done a great job, kudos to you.
Jon sometimes comes accross as a wannabe yank but other than that his blog is very interesting when he's not posting pics of his 'tool'.
Thank you for the lovely comments, piniyini. :)

Oh, and if you're looking for Pakistani bloggers, I'd say the best blogger by far is venialsin.com - do check out his posts, specially the "Unforgivible Sins - Boys of Summer" entries on the sidebar.
