Eid Mubarak Everyone

Thursday 20th January 2005 05:34:45 AM

So Eid is here once again and people are still quarrelling whether Eid has been done on the correct day. In our area (Savile Town) the majority of the people of have done their Eid today, but there is one mosque that is celebrating tomorrow.

I don't know why people don't celebrate Eid on the same day especially when we are all living in the same country so timing shouldn't be an issue.

Eid used to be a laugh when I was younger but now that is not the case, and you can only do Wilmslow Road a few times ;-)
Then again, Eid is all about making the kids happy.

Let me know which day you did your Eid on, and what you got up to.

eid mubarak!
ah the eternal playground debate of who is right or wrong on the date of eid :P.

my opinon is it doesn't matter, it does get anonying after been asked a billion times when is your eid, or when people assume its your eid on a certain day, just because your either one or the other race, its almost a form of profiling. (tick yes or no, kinda thing)

anyways it does get a bit difficult when you have a bunch of mates that celebrate it on one day, and another the other day and your stuck in between!

me i celebrated it on thursday, mainly because

a) the rest of my family did so,
b) because it made sense to me,
c) because the *most* of my mates did so
d) easier to meet up with relatives and stuff

is it me or are kids these days are very demanding, back in my days ?20 from a relative sufficed, these days ?20 seems pocket change, they only will stop their constant incessant nagging after you pass the ?50 mark.

today wasnt exactly an eventful day as such, went to leeds, manchester, bradford, sheffield. and a few unknown places the gps soft unsucessfuly dragged me into, trying to find quick routes between a to b, and the other few hundred routine stuff that one does on this day too :)

arghh wimslow road, the kebabs that my stomach never forgave me for, i will never eat a kebab from wimslow road again!

i usuually try avoiding curries and similiar stuff on eid, i tend to settle for other food for a change, italian (no pizza) and chinese are the best, still need to try mongolian food :P

thinking about it i guess its a conspiracy by school going kids to have eid on two days off! they get more days off school! ^_^
