Yahoo and Hotmail both increase their storage to 250mb

I've noticed that both my email account's with Yahoo and Hotmail now have a storage of 250 megabites. Yahoo mail was previously 100mb and Hotmail was a ridiculous 2mb, this is why I have next to abandoned my Hotmail account for over a year.

Undoubtly subscriptions for higher storage for both services will fall as not many people (unless they operate a business) need over 250mb. For the average joe the increased storage space is more than enough. In my Yahoo account I have nearly 300 messages and I've only reached 2%, is that great or what?

All this is thanks to the wonderful Gmail, who provide users with 1 gig of storage, at the moment it's in beta-phase and invite only. It's nice of Gmail to wake the sleeping giant's and stir the competition. After all, all this is beneficial to the end user, which is you and me ;-)
