Decided to un-abandon my abandoned blog
Thursday 4th November 2004 05:00:48 AMYou may have realised that I haven't been posting in quite a while. There are a number of reasons for this.
I'm in my 6th week for University and things are picking up, already got several assignments to complete and self-motivation is at an all time low. Basically I'm slumming it.
Safeway Dewsbury is closing down due to incurring heavy losses for long periods of time. Employees are extremely annoyed as some of them have worked their 5 to 20 years and do not want to change their daily lifestyle. Most of us have the option to seek a transfer or accept redundancy pay which does not reflect the hard work done by all members of staff. Redundancy is something equal to 1 week's pay for each years service provided we have worked there for two years. Some of us, like me, are not even eligible for that as I've worked there for 1 year and 1 month.
No-one really wants to work for Morrison's (Safeway's parent company) as their labour turnover is ridiculous and it means travelling further away.
I for one have decided to have a career change as working in a supermarket is and never will be to my liking. Maybe if I am strapped for cash or am working at a managerial level I will consider it.
I am currently looking for part-time employment in a call centre; out of 3 phone interviews I have only managed to get through to 1 face-to-face interview, bummer.
I'm also thinking of transferring my blog to toseef.com to make it look more pro.
